Good evening ladies and gentlemen. Today, we are gathered to witness this joyous moment when my best friend, Charmaine Tan will officially become, Mrs. Dwayne Sng.

I’ve been best friends with Charmaine for donkey years, since we met in our Secondary 3 class in Hai Sing Catholic School. We became steadfast friends when we found a similar passion- soccer! We would go to soccer training with our guy classmates and train in school during weekends with our school’s girls team. Everyone knows that bonds between people become stronger after they suffer together. And boy did we suffer during those trainings. There was giddiness, moaning, complaining for all the running that we had to do, we were, and still are, definitely not athletic people. Last but not least, the cramps. Man, almost every girl will know what I mean.

Of course, we didn’t just bond over soccer. We shopped together, hunted for guys together, danced and sang together. Charmaine has a bubbly and cheerful personality that others can’t help but to be drawn to it. Adding to that, her infectious laughter will always chase my blues away. She would lend me a shoulder to lean on and a sympathetic ear when I was down. Her retarded antics can always make me laugh.

Charmaine and Dwayne are a match made in heaven. Their meeting was one only fate could predict. In secondary school, both of them were mere acquaintances as Dwayne was our one year senior. However, on this fateful day, 16th March 2007, a group of us went to Toa Payoh to support some friends for an audition. Dwayne and his friend happened to take a wrong bus, ending up in Toa Payoh too. Talk about the timing. They were wandering around when Dwayne and Charmaine noticed each other. The starting bell for the dating game rung and they embarked on a relationship that exceeded even their own expectations. Who knew that they would be so perfect for each other.

However, as like any couple, their relationship has many ups and downs. Sometimes, I was even caught in the crossfire! But they always pulled through with their love even stronger than before. After 9 years of being together. Dwayne finally plucked up his courage to propose, and here we are to witness this joyful event.

Charmaine, I wish you good luck and have fun with those 3 kids you plan to have. I love you babe!

Dwayne, I know you have proven that you can take care of Charmaine for the past 9 years. Keep up the good work! You have a lifetime together ahead of you.
